*Quint nods* It does at first, but it'll get better.

*Metal looks a little less frightened.* If it's going to get better, I guess that it's not so bad... Just need to ignore the urge to try to go back, right?

*Quint smiles* It will. It just takes some time.

*Metal seems a little nervous.* And considering my teleporter doesn't even work, the ignoring is easy enough for now...

It's... don't think we're keeping you here as a prisoner. Not out of malice, anyhow. Once you've adjusted, you can have your teleporter back and all. *She looks to the others for confimation.* Right?

Change, growing beyond your programming... it's all part of being alive. Nothing to be afraid of.

*Quint nods* We just wanted to be sure you wouldn't panic and teleport away. Or attack us before we could try to explain, if you had your weapons.

*Air sighs softly* We'll give it back we we're sure you're ready. If we gave it back now, you'd probably just try to teleport back...

*Metal seems a bit uneasy.* I never thought that we were alive. We're supposed to just be machines.

*He seems a bit agitated.* So you don't trust me to not do something stupid... Is that it?

*Quint flinches slightly, not wanting Metal angry at him* It's not like that, oniisan. We didn't know if you'd panic. It can be really wierd for a while because of the programming changes, and then with everything else that might have happened to you we just didn't want you to be hurt.

*Quick glares at Metal.* If you wish to throw blame around, blame me. I'm the one who told Air to do it.

*Air is getting a little upset now. He's not exactly fond of people being angry with him.* Sorry, Metal...

*Metal just glares at Quick now, not saying anything else.*

*Quint shivers, fighting the urge to retrieve Sakugarne from data storage and try to hide behind it. Instead, he backed up against the 'wall' of the cave as if trying to stay out of the way.*

Please don't be mad, oniisan. We didn't know what you'd do. There wasn't any way to know what he'd done to you.

A-and I'm the one who mentioned the teleporters to you, Quick, in case they panicked. I-it's my fault.

*Quick speaks more calmly.* Quint, it's not your fault. I could have just as easily said that it was an unnecessary precaution. I made the final choice, therefore if someone is to blame, it's me.

*He glares at Metal.* Leave the others out of this. For all we knew, you could have tried to kill us on reactivation. This was the only safe option.

*Metal suddenly stops the angry glaring on realizing actually how much he was scaring Quint. He was actually a bit surprised at himself for doing that. After this long, having someone actually scared of him is a bit unnerving. After a bit of hesitation, he comments sadly.* So this is what you were worried about, Quick. Me doing something stupid like this, except with weapons?

We didn't know what he'd done to you. If you'd be ok, or if you'd panic, or even if maybe you'd be crazier than Topman... We just didn't know.

*Metal looks down at the floor, shivering.* And considering how I've responded... You guys were right to do it.

Hey, after something like that, flipping out and attacking whoever was in range when you woke up would have been understandable.

We just didn't want to be stress relief.

*Metal winces at that comment.* Being someone's target for stress release is bad... Really bad...

*Quint doesn't reply to that, just nods slightly.*

*Metal shivers a bit.* I was the perfect target for that. I couldn't really fight back unless they said I could...

*Quint blinks, surprised a bit by the thought of Metal treated like that* I couldn't either. I wasn't allowed to use my weapon inside the Castle, and I'm small even for the way my universe is. All I could do sometimes, with some of the others, was run and hide.

*Metal shivers a bit.* Never could run or hide for very long, and I figured out rather quickly that running was exactly what some of them wanted me to do. More fun for them...

*almost distractedly* It made it into a game. Especially for Top. Hardman would get bored and look for an easier target, but Topman liked trying to find me. Hide and seek...

I'm very good at hiding. Being small helped there. I could get into places he couldn't even reach into. And I only had to run and hide long enough for Enker to find out.

Enker never liked that kind of thing, but sometimes he had orders, and he was busy a lot. So he didn't always find out until after...

*Metal sighs.* I stopped bothering to run not long after they told me about the others... What was the point? No one cared if I was hurt... And I didn't think there was any reason to try to escape with the others gone... It was over faster at least. They got bored with an easy target sometimes...
