*Metal suddenly stops the angry glaring on realizing actually how much he was scaring Quint. He was actually a bit surprised at himself for doing that. After this long, having someone actually scared of him is a bit unnerving. After a bit of hesitation, he comments sadly.* So this is what you were worried about, Quick. Me doing something stupid like this, except with weapons?

We didn't know what he'd done to you. If you'd be ok, or if you'd panic, or even if maybe you'd be crazier than Topman... We just didn't know.

Hey, after something like that, flipping out and attacking whoever was in range when you woke up would have been understandable.

We just didn't want to be stress relief.

*Quint blinks, surprised a bit by the thought of Metal treated like that* I couldn't either. I wasn't allowed to use my weapon inside the Castle, and I'm small even for the way my universe is. All I could do sometimes, with some of the others, was run and hide.

*Metal shivers a bit.* Never could run or hide for very long, and I figured out rather quickly that running was exactly what some of them wanted me to do. More fun for them...

*almost distractedly* It made it into a game. Especially for Top. Hardman would get bored and look for an easier target, but Topman liked trying to find me. Hide and seek...

I'm very good at hiding. Being small helped there. I could get into places he couldn't even reach into. And I only had to run and hide long enough for Enker to find out.

Enker never liked that kind of thing, but sometimes he had orders, and he was busy a lot. So he didn't always find out until after...

*Metal sighs.* I stopped bothering to run not long after they told me about the others... What was the point? No one cared if I was hurt... And I didn't think there was any reason to try to escape with the others gone... It was over faster at least. They got bored with an easy target sometimes...

Maybe that's why they told you the others were gone. So you wouldn't try to get away.

There was a crazy alternate of Blues that tried something like that with me. I still don't know why. He said that nobody from the Castle cared that I was gone. Not even Enker...

*Metal shivers a bit.* It's still hard to believe that it's over. That they were lying all that time...

*Quint smiles slightly* If is were one of Wind's tricks somehow, would he have kept it up this long?

*Metal sighs.* If it amused him, he'd keep it going until he got bored... And he has a long attention span.

Wouldn't he have other things, though? I mean... even the new ones have guard duty, don't they? Or other things Wily'd want them to do.

We're not a trick, oniisan. I know it'll take time for you to think maybe we are sometimes, but Wind wouldn't be able to keep something like this up for very long.

*Metal seems a bit uneasy.* He didn't have guard duty often, since Wily usually let those with other talents get away without as many shifts. The others were always willing to take over a shift if he was busy too... Wily never cared as long as it was done.

That's different where I'm from. The only excuse for missing duty is if you're damaged too bad to leave your room. Just about anything else will get you punished. We weren't allowed to cover each other's shifts unless someone's damaged or being punished.

Wily likes Wind's little projects. Wind is allowed to do as he wishes, and since most of the time Wind was using me to test his little projects... He had plenty of time to think up more elaborate ways to mess with my head.

That's not right. I'm sorry he was allowed to do that, oniisan. It's not right, and it shouldn't be allowed. Not by Wind, and not by Wily. Not by anyone.

*Metal shakes his head.* I guess it's over now, though. Should probably just be trying to forget about it now... But it's hard to, after so much time.

I know. Things like that take time to start to recover from. *he frowns briefly, remembering a few unpleasant encounters early on in his time in the Nexus* Some people don't understand that, but I do. When something bad happens, you don't just get over it overnight. But it does get better.

You're safe now, oniisan. And you won't ever have to let anyone hurt you again.
