*Metal sounds a bit more frightened at hearing this.* Can't go back? But we have to go back. That's what we're supposed to do. We belong to Lord Wily. That is our place. How can we not go back?

*Quint fidgets* One reason is that he doesn't want us any more. I was thrown out with the trash. Literally.

By the time there was any chance that I could go back and maybe not be destroyed for it, I didn't want to. I.. never really liked some of the things we had to do.

But more than that, I'd found out that I can do more to keep my brothers safe if I stay kind of on the outside of things. And I care a lot more about them than I do about Wily.

Ah, Metal... *Steadfast presses her lips together - she feels for him.*

If you go back, it won't be safe for you or your brothers. I understand you want to be with Dr. Wily. But... Just because someone made you, doesn't mean he owns you. *She silently wonders how often she'll have to give that lecture.* How about you stay with the others for a bit? Watch how they live, see what else you can be other than the possession of some squishie. See all options before you make your decision.

Give yourself time... But one thing - *her expression turns stern* I'd appreciate if you didn't endanger your brothers while doing so.

*Air sounds as though he feels a little guilty for doing this, but...* Metal, you can't go back. The fail-safes are gone. If Wily knew, he'd have you recycled or worse... He might even give you right back to Wind. He gave me to Wind already, without even knowing that mine are gone. I'm sorry.

*Metal cringes a bit at both the idea that he would be possibly doing something to harm his brothers by returning and that returning would possibly cause him to be one of Wind's toys again. He sounds scared.* So I don't really have much of a choice, do I? I betray my creator one way, and the other way I go back to Wind...

Wily already betrayed us with the way he treats us. It's not as bad where I'm from, but it's still not right. And the way it is where you're from... He doesn't deserve any of you.

*Ballade's actually been quiet, but now he smiles at Metal* It's ok. It's only scary for a while, then it gets better.

He created us. It's his right to treat us as he wishes. What right do we have to question? But now... I don't even have a choice. I can't go back to the possibility that Wind would get me... *He shivers a bit.* I'd rather be recycled outright than face that again. At least the pain would be over with faster. Wouldn't have to be afraid anymore either...

*Quint's reminded again of Enker, and for a brief moment wishes his older brother were here. Which, he knows, would be a bad idea, since Enker would likely agree with Metal on the matter of loyalty.*

*He sighs, and hugs Quick instead, snuggling slightly and just not wanting to be 'alone' at the moment*

It's not that bad. Really. We're safe this way. He can't hurt us any more. That matters too, oniisan.

It's better this way. I still try to help my brothers. I wouldn't be able to if I went back. It wouldn't help anything.

*He sounds as much as if he's trying to convince himself as if he's trying to convince Metal*

*Quick smiles a little at Quint, before glaring at Metal.* Would you at least give us a chance, Metal? We aren't going to just let you go back, you know. I don't want to lose another brother.

*Ballade just gives Metal a puzzled look* Being scared or hurt can get better, though. Being destroyed never does.

*Metal sounds a little uneasy.* Being safe sounds like a good thing... And going back would only make Wind happy. *After a bit of nervous hesitation* I guess I'll have to give it a try, Quick. It can't be worse at least.

*Ballade grins* Nobody here wants to make Wind happy. He just kinda pisses everyone off...

*Quick smiles a bit.* Good to hear, Metal. I don't want Wind to have you any more than I want the bastard to have Air.

*Metal still is a little uneasy.* I've never really been safe before. We all knew Lord Wily would sometimes do things on a whim. He recycled more than one of us "because he could". And Wind has made things worse...

*Quick nods, agreeing with Quint.* Safe, and the only people here wouldn't want to hurt you, Metal. *He pauses before adding* Not that I'd just let someone hurt you.

*Sounding nervous* Why are my weapons not functioning? If something happened, I'd be vulnerable... *Metal doesn't mention the fact that it's unnerving to have his weapons disabled for the first time in his existence, outside of the time with Wind, at least.*

*Quint fidgets slightly, embarrased* We weren't sure what you'd do when you woke up.. if you might panic. And I-I don't know if we could have stopped you if you had your weapons and attacked us. That's why your teleporter's disabled too.

*Ballade nods* Uh huh. Cause we wouldn't want to fight you even if you did attack us. And it wouldn't be good if you went back to the Castle before anything was explained either. And we didn't know if you'd let us try to explain.

*Quick sighs.* Metal, I know how you are. You wouldn't have thought of anything other than going back to Wily. I don't exactly like the idea of beating the hell out of you for even a good reason... But I'd have to if you had those working, because you wouldn't listen.
